The pantry continues curbside service as phased in openings of the state economy begin to take effect. Getting back to “the way we were” will take time. A meaningful quote came to my attention this week that is applicable to our volunteers as well as our donors:

“Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. You vote in elections once a year but when you volunteer (and donate), you vote every day about the kind of community in which you want to live.”

Financial donations continue to help us stay afloat. New and repeat donors are being sent thank you letters as checks and PayPal donations continue to magically appear. We are blessed to live in such a caring community.

Here are the comparative statistics:

April 30, 2020 May 2, 2019

Households 168 218

Adults 213 312

Seniors 84 98

Children 84 125

Individuals 381 535

New 21 10

The number of “new” families may be a record high and an indicator of need as the shutdown continues to devastate family incomes.

Wishing all of you well!

’til next time,

Brenda
