The entire student population of Blue Hill Consolidated School created a chain of hands, in two shifts, to deliver over 1,000 items to the Tree of Life food pantry on November 19. The annual Thanksgiving Food Drive began at the school on November 1, said Principal Della Martin, and included $200 in cash collected by the fifth grade. To help with the delivery, a core of food pantry volunteers corralled banana boxes and carts to bring the donations inside. The food drop was the third within one week: on November 15, George Stevens Academy students helped unload the result of the high school’s food drive—exactly 2,332 items. Additional food and cash donations came in last week from a Bar Harbor Bank-organized food drive held at TradeWinds Market Place.
